It is of utmost importance that you develop a knowledge and respect for your child's country and its people. Your travel to your child's country is the beginning of your learning about his land. Preparing before hand will give you a feel for what you are to experience.Read some guidebooks about the country you will be visiting.
Try to find out as much as possible about customs and etiquette of your child's country.
Try to make contact with natives from that country who are living in the United States and ask them what things they found strange and different about our way of life and customs.
Talk to experienced adoptive parents who have recently returned from your child's country.
Learn some of the language and buy a dictionary.
