Peru Adoption
Overview
An Open Door Adoption Agency is among the few agencies licensed to place children from Peru. The government of Peru is stable and adoptions are carefully regulated by the central government.
Open Door works with an outstanding registered Peruvian Psychologist, who is our legal representative in Peru, and who handles the entire adoption case for our families there. This representative will meet the adoptive family at the airport and escort them to all adoption related events.
Children from five years of age and older are available for adoption along with sibling groups and special needs children. Parents may select the age and gender of their child. Peru has many adorable children in this age range who are awaiting forever families.
The waiting children are in government orphanages. Most are in relatively good health, but may experience typical institutional delays. The entire adoption process takes less than a year once all your documents are submitted. Your stay in Peru will be from three to four weeks to complete an adoption. One spouse may return home after the court process while the second spouse remains to complete the U.S. immigration requirements for your child. After receiving your child's Immigrant Visa from the Consulate in Lima, Peru, you may return home with your child.
