China Program
Due to China’s One Child Policy, there are thousands of orphans waiting for families in the beautiful country of China. Currently, due to the slowdown of the CCAA in referring healthy, young females, the wait for a non-special needs referral is approximately 36-48 months from application to referral. However, for families comfortable with long wait times, the China adoption process remains dependable and predictable. In May 2007, China implemented new requirements for adoptive couples. These include:
- BMI under 40
- No history of cancer,anxiety or anti-depressant medications
- Family Net Worth of $80,000
- Married couples only, and must be married for 5 years

China Special Needs Program
For every one, healthy child adopted from China, there are hundreds if
not thousands more children with special needs that wait for families.
Who are these children?
They range in age from 8 months to 12 years old and present a variety of
special needs. Many of these needs are minor, correctable conditions
that require minimal medical care.
Our China Special Needs program at Open Door Adoption can see most
families complete an adoption, from application to travel, in
approximately 12-18 months. Both girls and boys are available and
families have opporunites to review all medical information before
deciding to move forward with a child.
Families that have been through this process are willing to share their
experiences with other waiting moms and dads.
