Dear Birth mom,
All we can think to say to you is thank you. Thank you for choosing life for your baby. Thank you for the love you have put into the decision of adoption. We don’t know each other, but we are grateful that you have decided to give your baby a different life in another family. We know this was a difficult decision for you and our family prays for you and your child every night. If you decide we are the family for your child, we want you to know we will always tell your child about you and how much you cared to give your child a different life. We are amazed by your courage, bravery, selflessness, maturity, and most importantly, the love that it takes to do what you are doing right now.
Robert and Shari
We met at an American Indian conference in college. We married in 2001, after 10 years together. We have two boys, who are 10 and 6 years old. Big brother is a sweet, intelligent, and active boy. He’s a great big brother. Little brother is incredibly sweet, happy, and smart boy. He can’t wait to be a big brother! We are lovingly committed to each other and work hard to raise our children in a Christian home. We attend a church has great music and values children. Vacation bible school is the highlight of the boys’ summer.
Shari holds a Masters and Ph.D. degree in environmental biology and works for the federal government as an entomologist (the study of insects). While Shari travels periodically, she works from home three days each week, so she’s often home when the boys get home from school. She volunteers at the boys’ school, is learning to be a beekeeper and loves tea of all kinds. Her mom and sister and her children live in the state, so there is family nearby.
Robert works in real estate and technology. He works from home, so he does most of the “taxi-ing” the boys around. The boys hang out with him on school out days and often during the summer. Robert volunteers at the school’s chess club and is the Cub Scout Cub Master. He has Bachelors and Masters degrees in engineering. He loves new computer technologies. Robert is one of 10 kids, so we have a huge extended family. Most of them live out of the state but they visit often.
We live in a large house on a quiet cul-de-sac. Our neighborhood park and our elementary school is across the street. We have a fabulous school district! We love “tiny” vacations, day trips, and to be outside. Our town has great parks, bike paths, and open space. We have two kid-friendly dogs, Brody and Shelby, and a 20 year old cat, Cheyenne.
Thank you for considering us as parents to your little one. We want you to know that if you choose us to be your baby’s adoptive family, we will do everything we can to give your child a wonderfully happy life. We look forward to talking with you.
