“I am so blessed to be introducing myself as the Director of Domestic Adoptions! I am honored to continue serving children in this fresh capacity. I have a heart for serving birthmothers and adoptive families and strongly believe in An Open Door’s ministry of being the hands and feet of Christ.”

Amber is married to her husband of over 20 years and they have one son. She received her education degree in 2000 and then a Master’s Degree in General Education in 2005. She has faithfully served children in the public school system for 18 years.

As a pregnant woman, you are probably wondering what your options are for the future. How will you manage your pregnancy? What does adoption look like? Can you continue to see your child after pregnancy? Can you continue to see your child after placing him or her? What will she think of you?

I can help you answer all these questions! My heart is to help you figure out exactly what’s right for you. It’s not the same for everyone. I am the Director of Domestic Adoptions, and we have counselors all over the state I would love to connect you with. In fact, we can meet with you, in person, the same day you call.

Ashley

Domestic Caseworker Adoption Consultant

Atlanta

Ashley has a Master's Degree in Criminology from the University of West Georgia. She worked for the State of Georgia for six years before joining An Open Door Adoption Agency. She is excited to be in an environment where she can use her faith and testimony to help expectant mothers and children in need. Ashley has a passion for working with mothers and feels blessed to be able to provide them with the guidance and support they need during one of the most impactful parts of their lives. Ashley enjoys cooking and spending time with her biological and church family during her downtime.

JJ

Domestic Caseworker Adoption Consultant

JJ serves as a Domestic Consultant for Open Door, supporting families throughout Southwest Georgia. She first joined the Open Door team in 2016 as the Development Coordinator, where she developed a deep appreciation for the agency’s mission and heart for children and families. After stepping away for a season to focus on her family, JJ is grateful and excited to return to serving her community through a Christ-centered organization.

JJ lives in South Georgia with her husband and their two children. She began her career in social work in 2002 and has spent more than two decades serving nonprofits across Georgia. Her professional experience includes work with social services agencies in therapeutic and foster care settings, educational institutions training DFCS employees, and nonprofit organizations such as the YMCA. At the YMCA, she directed childcare programs, coordinated community service initiatives, and managed grant writing and fundraising efforts. JJ holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Leadership & Community Service and earned her Master of Education in Instructional Technology in 2014.

An active member at her Church, JJ serves in the Children’s Ministry, teaching three and four-year-olds. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with family. She loves to travel, especially trips to Disney World, and works part-time as a travel agent. She volunteers at her children’s school, often spending time in the school library helping foster a love of books in young readers.

Laura Leigh

Domestic Caseworker Adoption Consultant

Savannah & Surrounding Areas

Laura Leigh has been with An Open Door since January 2022. She graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor’s in Christian Counseling. She has a true passion for helping people. She is confident that the Lord has orchestrated her life events to shape her for this position with our agency.

Merrie Beth

Domestic Caseworker Adoption Consultant

North Georgia

Merrie Beth holds a Master's Degree in Education and brings personal experience to adoption consulting. As an adoptive parent and former foster parent, Merrie Beth understands the complexities and emotions involved in the adoption journey. She is committed to supporting birthmothers, adoptive families, and children through the entire adoption process.

Missy

Domestic Caseworker Adoption Consultant

Missy holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from Georgia State University. She joined An Open Door Adoption Agency in 2024 and loves working with mothers and children. Adoption holds a special place in her life.

Shontelle

Domestic Caseworker Adoption Consultant

Augusta & Surrounding Areas

Service is Shontelle’s passion, and she has been blessed to provide service in every aspect of her life and careers for over 25 years. She is married to an amazing man, James, and in their union, they have been blessed with two young men, Kaleb and Jacob. Her formal education varies from Sociology to Healthcare/Business Management, to Education, and to Real Estate. She enjoys spending time traveling, educating herself and others, and hanging out with her family. Shontelle says that it is her goal to leave this world better than she found it, one person at a time. She says, “An Open Door Adoption Agency allows me to melt my knowledge, skills, and talents together to create relationships and connections to change others' lives one by one.

Stacy

Domestic Caseworker Adoption Consultant

Atlanta

Stacy has a Masters Degree in Human Services Marriage & Family Counseling. She joined An Open Door Adoption Agency in 2024. Stacy has a passion for helping women & children in both ministry and life, and is thankful to be a part of the important work at An Open Door!

Teresa

Domestic Caseworker Adoption Consultant

Teresa holds a Dual Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Counseling, with a minor in Criminal Justice. She has over 10 years of experience in forensics and over 20 years of experience in pediatric and adult counseling. Teresa also serves as a Certified Lay Minister, Youth Director, and High Risk Case Manager for individuals at risk of self-harm.

Teresa has two adult children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 fur-babies with whom she spends as much time with as possible. They remind her not to take life too seriously and to laugh and play as often as possible.
